Plane Crash Tragedy: Man Cries Alone As He Waits For His Girlfriend’s Body, Utters ‘My Love’

The Ahmedabad plane crash on June 12, 2025, has plunged the nation into a deep well of sorrow. Air India flight AI171, bound for London, crashed shortly after takeoff, leaving behind a trail of devastation. With 272 lives lost—including passengers, cabin crew, students, and locals—the nation has been gripped by anguish. While officials continue the investigation, the human stories emerging from the tragedy are heart-wrenching, and none more so than the viral video of a grieving man, waiting alone at a hospital.

A Heartbreaking Scene: ‘My Love’

A video shared by journalist Tamal Saha captured one of the most soul-stirring moments following the crash. A young man, dressed in a red t-shirt, was spotted alone in a hospital waiting room. His silent sobs, downcast eyes, and solitary presence painted a picture of unimaginable pain. He had come to collect the body of his girlfriend, one of the victims of the Air India tragedy.

When hospital officials approached him and asked whom he was waiting for, the man responded with just two haunting words: “My love.” Those words encapsulated a depth of grief that no camera or caption could ever fully capture.

Tamal Saha recounted:

“At the hospital waiting room, we found this young man. The body was yet to be handed over. He quietly sat there and wept on his own. He lost his girlfriend. No one by his side but a whole bundle of memories that he has to live with for the rest of his life. When asked who he was waiting for, the man responded with just two words that said it all: ‘My love.’”

The Crash That Shook a Nation

Flight AI171 took off from Ahmedabad en route to London but tragically lost control just minutes after takeoff. The aircraft collided with the boundary wall of B.J. Medical College and burst into flames upon impact. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a deafening explosion, followed by plumes of smoke. Emergency services rushed to the site, but the magnitude of the disaster was overwhelming.

Among the 272 victims were students on their way to study abroad, doctors returning from conferences, families heading for vacations, and locals impacted by the crash site. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani also lost his life in the accident.

The Sole Survivor: Seat 11A

In an astonishing turn of fate, only one passenger survived the crash: Ramesh Vishwaskumar, a 38-year-old British-Indian man seated in 11A—right next to the emergency exit. The location of his seat allowed him to escape the wreckage with injuries, while all others on board perished. Ramesh was visiting family in Gujarat and had boarded the ill-fated flight with his brother, who is still unaccounted for.

In an emotional interview, Ramesh described the horror:

“There were bodies all around me, pieces of the plane… someone grabbed me and put me in an ambulance.”

The striking coincidence? Thai actor Ruangsak James Loychusak survived a plane crash 26 years ago—while also seated in 11A. The similarity has sparked widespread conversations online.

The Grief That Lingers

As the country reels from this tragedy, personal stories like that of the heartbroken young man at the hospital continue to emerge. They remind us that every number in the death toll was someone’s parent, partner, sibling, or child.

In a time of great loss, this quiet scene—of a man, alone, whispering “My love” in a hospital waiting room—stands as a symbol of human grief, vulnerability, and the unspoken power of love. Let us mourn, remember, and never forget.
