Popular Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh made his first appearance at the Met Gala 2025, and his fans around the world are celebrating. After performing at Coachella and appearing on major international shows, Diljit walked the red carpet at one of the most prestigious fashion events in the world – the Met Gala. His look proudly represented Punjabi culture and heritage.
Diljit Wears Custom Outfit by Prabal Gurung
For this big moment, Diljit chose to wear a royal outfit created by Prabal Gurung, a well-known designer of Nepali-American background. He wore an ivory sherwani-style suit, which gave him a royal appearance. His look was inspired by the famous Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala.
Diljit also wore a cape with golden embroidery, which showed the map of Punjab and the Punjabi (Gurmukhi) alphabet. He completed his look with a turban (pag), making him look just like a Sikh king.
Jewellery That Tells a Story
Diljit wore beautiful necklaces made of pearls and emeralds, along with shiny rings and brooches. Each piece of jewellery he wore had a royal meaning. The standout piece was a replica of the famous Patiala necklace, made by Cartier in 1928 for Maharaja Bhupinder Singh. This necklace included thousands of diamonds and the very famous 234-carat De Beers yellow diamond.
Diljit Brings Back the Patiala Necklace
In 2022, Emma Chamberlain wore part of this historic necklace to the Met Gala. But this year, seeing Diljit wear it with pride made it feel special and truly Indian. He not only looked royal but also brought Punjabi heritage to the international stage.
A Big Moment for India and Punjab
Diljit Dosanjh’s Met Gala debut was not just a fashion moment – it was a proud cultural moment. Sitting alongside global stars like Shakira and Nicole Scherzinger, Diljit made a powerful statement about Indian tradition and style.
