Hansika Motwani has taken legal action against her sister-in-law, television actor Muskan Nancy James, by moving the Bombay High Court. The actress seeks to quash a cruelty case filed against her and her mother, Jyoti Motwani. Muskan, who married Hansika’s brother Prashant in 2021, filed an FIR at the Amboli Police Station on December 18, 2024, alleging harassment and abuse.
Hansika’s Petition Against FIR
Hansika claims that the FIR is a “retaliatory measure” aimed at forcing a financial settlement in the ongoing divorce case between Muskan and Prashant. According to the petition, filed by advocate Drishti Khurana, the allegations of verbal and physical abuse are baseless. Additionally, Hansika has demanded the return of ₹27 lakhs, which she allegedly loaned to Muskan for wedding expenses.
Muskan’s Allegations Against Hansika
Muskan’s FIR accuses Hansika and her mother of attempting to control her lifestyle, dictating her clothing choices, and interfering in her career. It also claims that Hansika installed CCTV cameras to monitor Muskan’s movements.
Legal Charges and Court Proceedings
Hansika, her mother Jyoti, and her brother Prashant have been booked under sections 498A, 323, 504, and 506 of the IPC. However, Hansika and her mother were granted bail in February 2025. The next court hearing is scheduled for July 3. The case continues to unfold as both sides present their arguments in court.
