Veteran actress Mamta Kulkarni, a celebrated star of the 1990s, recently returned to Mumbai after 25 years. In an emotional statement, she clarified her association with drug lord Vicky Goswami and denied any connection to the drug world.

No Plans for Bollywood Comeback

Speaking with ANI, Mamta dismissed any speculation about her return to Bollywood.

“I have not come back for Bollywood, and I am not planning to make a return as an actress,” she stated.

Addressing Vicky Goswami Rumours

Mamta Kulkarni opened up about her ties with Vicky Goswami, emphasizing her lack of involvement in his alleged activities.

“I have no connection with the drug world as I never met these people. Yes, I got connected with Vicky Goswami in 1996. My spiritual journey started around that time when a guru entered my life,” she explained.

She further elaborated on her interactions with Goswami, detailing how she supported him while he was imprisoned in Dubai. Mamta revealed:

“Vicky called me from jail in Dubai to come and meet him. I spent 12 years immersed in spiritual practices. By the time he was released in 2012, my desires for love or marriage had faded.”

Mamta also clarified that she last contacted Vicky in 2016 and has had no association with him since.

Legal Troubles and Extradition

In 2017, the Thane Police issued a non-bailable warrant against Mamta Kulkarni and Vicky Goswami in connection with a drug haul case. The charges stemmed from a sting operation conducted by the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), which implicated Goswami and several others. Mamta denied being involved with Goswami during this period, asserting that she was focused on her spiritual pursuits.

Emotional Return to Mumbai

The actress shared a heartfelt video on Instagram, expressing her feelings upon returning to her homeland after more than two decades.

“I became emotional when the flight was about to land, seeing my country from above after 25 years,” she said, adding that stepping out of Mumbai’s international airport brought tears to her eyes.

Mamta revealed that her departure from India began in 2000. After attending the Kumbh Mela in 2012, she decided to dedicate herself to a life of austerity. Now, she has returned to India ahead of the Maha Kumbh Mela in 2025.

In her Instagram post, she wrote:

“BACK TO MY MOTHERLAND AFTER 25 YEARS. ATTENDED KUMBH MELA 2012 AFTER 12 YEARS AUSTERITY AND COME BACK EXACTLY AFTER 12 YEARS FOR ANOTHER MAHA KUMBH 2025.”

A Glimpse into Mamta’s Iconic Career

Mamta Kulkarni rose to fame in the 1990s with her roles in blockbuster films such as Karan Arjun and Baazi. She shared the screen with top stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan. However, she chose to step away from the limelight in the early 2000s, leading a life far removed from her Bollywood days.
