While his professional life sparkles with success, his personal life has seen its share of turbulence, especially in his past relationship with his first wife, Ramlath.
Ramlath Praises Prabhu Deva As A Father
In a recent interview with Aval Vikatan, Ramlath broke her silence after 14 years of divorce. She revealed that she still shares a strong sense of mutual respect with Prabhu Deva, especially when it comes to co-parenting their children. She praised him for being a responsible and loving father.
“His children are his life. He is very attached to both of them. The father-son trio talk to each other irrespective of the situation. We take every decision mutually, when it comes to our children.”
Despite their separation, Prabhu Deva and Ramlath have continued to maintain a healthy parenting dynamic, putting their children’s well-being above everything else.
A Relationship Rooted In Respect
Ramlath emphasized that she has never spoken ill of her ex-husband and acknowledged that he has also never made negative remarks about her, even after their divorce.
“I would be angry with him if he had said anything bad about me after we broke up, but he never did. I would not say anything bad about someone like that.”
This mutual dignity has helped them maintain a peaceful relationship even after parting ways.
Their Love Story And Marriage
Prabhu Deva and Ramlath met during the early 1990s when he was rising as a choreographer in Tamil cinema. Ramlath, a classical dancer, fell in love with him. However, their interfaith backgrounds initially became a barrier — Ramlath was a Muslim, and Prabhu Deva a Hindu.
To marry him, Ramlath converted to Hinduism and changed her name to Latha. The couple tied the knot in 1995 and had three sons. Sadly, their eldest son passed away from cancer at the age of 13, a tragedy that deeply affected the family.
Divorce Following Prabhu Deva’s Affair With Nayanthara
Their marriage began to unravel when news of Prabhu Deva’s alleged extramarital affair with actress Nayanthara surfaced. In 2010, he publicly admitted to being in a relationship with Nayanthara and expressed his intention to marry her.
Although rumors about their relationship began around the 2009 release of the film Villu, it wasn’t until 2010 that the matter became public. This confession led to the end of his 16-year marriage with Ramlath in 2011. However, Prabhu Deva and Nayanthara’s relationship also didn’t last, as they reportedly broke up in 2012 due to personal differences — one being Prabhu’s wish for Nayanthara to quit acting after marriage.
Prabhu Deva’s Second Marriage With Himani Singh
Years after his divorce, Prabhu Deva found love again. In 2020, he got married to Dr. Himani Singh, a physiotherapist. The couple reportedly met during Prabhu Deva’s physiotherapy sessions, and their bond blossomed into a lifelong commitment.
In 2023, Prabhu Deva and Himani welcomed a baby girl, adding joy to their lives. The couple prefers to keep their personal life low-key, away from the media glare.
