Anupamaa actress Rupali Ganguly has recently taken legal action against her stepdaughter, Esha Verma, by issuing a defamation notice through her lawyer, Sana Raees Khan, who is also a contestant on Bigg Boss 17. The notice demands Rs 50 crore in compensation, accusing Esha of making damaging and defamatory statements that allegedly tarnish Rupali’s character and personal life. Esha, daughter of Rupali’s husband Ashwin Verma from his previous marriage, has previously alleged that Rupali is a “psychotic and abusive woman” and claimed that she physically harmed her mother. Esha’s comments also included accusations that Rupali’s son was born illegitimately, which has reportedly added to the emotional distress faced by Rupali.

in response, Esha Verma shared a video on Instagram, mentioning her decision to make her account private and to move forward. Expressing gratitude to her supporters, she stated, “I’m in America, so things are a little bit different here, and we’re more protected,” suggesting her belief in a safer environment while handling the legal implications from abroad. Esha also emphasized positivity in her social interactions, warning against negative comments on her profile.
The Legal Row and Background of the Dispute
Sana Raees Khan, representing Rupali Ganguly, has explained that the defamation notice is a response to the numerous public allegations that Esha Verma has made against her stepmother. In an interview, Sana disclosed that Rupali has been deeply hurt and shocked by these claims, as she and Esha previously shared a cordial relationship. Sana added that the tipping point came when Esha made comments about Rupali’s young son, referring to him as illegitimate, which prompted Rupali to act.
In a statement, Sana’s legal team explained, “These baseless allegations were clearly intended to harm Rupali Ganguly’s reputation and capitalize on her public standing. Such actions have not only caused emotional distress but have also unfairly tarnished her personal and professional integrity.” The legal team stated that Rupali is committed to preserving her dignity and reputation amid what they view as a publicity tactic.
